Bingo Causes Beverly Hosler Fifth Degree Felony
A bingo game intended to collect money for fundraising efforts on behalf of the Sycamore Fire Department has causes a woman from Sycamore to commit a fifth-degree felony. The suspect, Beverly Hosler, was sentenced by Judge Kathleen Aubry in the Wyandot County Common Pleas Court for a charge of theft, which counts as a fifth-degree felony.
According to Bryan Clouse, who is the Sycamore Fire Chief, Beverly Hosler has pleaded guilty of said crime last April to reduce the charge against her after an investigation by local authorities that lasted almost a year and a half, had confirmed that she indeed stole money from a bingo game held by the Sycamore fire department. Beverly Hosler was the bookkeeper for the fire department for a number of years.
He added that he and the department feel that the judge who handled the case was fair and impartial and they are just relieved that the sentence has already been handed down by the court. They are hoping to put all of this behind them and move forward now that the case has been resolved.
Court documents show that Beverly Hosler was sentenced to 180 days of imprisonment in the Wyandot County Jail. She was also sentenced to enroll and successfully finish a theft-offender program, along with five years of community control, 100 hours of community service and pay the fire house $10, 000 dollars for damages. Chief Clouse said that the money has already been paid to them.
Bryan Clouse also said that the public can be assured that the money that they are paying in the bingo games will be used to buy fire equipment and supplies for the department.
